A lawyer for the ex-Navy SEAL who made headlines for his controversial book about the raid that killed Osama bin Laden has said his client had every right to publish his work.
The Pentagon has threatened legal action against Mark Owen for publishing his book, claiming it violates a non-disclosure agreement he signed while serving on active duty.
But Patton Boggs lawyer Robert Luskin, who represents Owen, says the non-disclosure agreement “by no means requires Mr. Owen to submit materials for pre-publication review," The Wall Street Journal's Speakeasy blog reported Friday.
In a letter written in response to the Pentagon's threat, Luskin stated Owen's book couldn't “conceivably be encompassed” by his agreement.
