This U.S. Air Force image was taken on May 29 during the "fini-flight" of Col. Jeannie Leavitt, the commander of the 4th Fighter Wing.
"Fini-flight" is short for final flight, and is a military aviation tradition to celebrate the end of a pilot or commander’s time at a base or in command. It can also refer to the last flight with a specific aircraft.
As the U.S. Air Force's first female fighter pilot, Col. Leavitt recorded more than 2,600 flying hours in the F-15E Strike Eagle. Leavitt will relinquish command of the 4th Fighter Wing on June 2.
