The following video shows a practice bombing mission flown by a Russian Air Force Su-24 Fencer jet, using cameras mounted on the belly of the aircraft.
As expected, this provides an unusual and fascinating point of view.
You can see an unguided bomb being dropped as well as the main landing gear extending and retracting.
The Su-24 Fencer is a supersonic, all-weather attack aircraft developed in the Soviet Union. It is still in service with the Syrian,Iranian and Libyan air forces, among others. It’s a twin-engined two-seater plane with a variable geometry wing that enables it to perform ultra low level strike missions.
In April 2014, a Russian Su-24MR flew within 1,000 yards of the USS Donald Cook, the U.S. Navy destroyer operating in the Black Sea. U.S. authorities considered this move “provocative and inconsistent with international agreements.”
